Abstract: Article summarizes after which compares fall prevalence charges, fall threat factors, penalties of falls, and current data about fall prevention interventions between community-dwelling older adults and people aging with bodily disability. In this latter group, the article focuses on individuals with a number of sclerosis, late results of polio, muscular dystrophies, and spinal cord injuries.

Summary: Article examines the social and political forces underlying contemporary views concerning the rights of older adults and folks with disabilities from the Civil War to the present. Half I outlines the backdrop of early pension methods. Part II discusses the intersection of aging and disability points. Half III examines the persistence of the medical model and stigma and the function of medical and technological advances into the twenty-first century. Half IV reviews current initiatives and implications for research, coverage, and follow to advance equal alternatives, benefits, and quality of life via employment, innovative packages for veterans, and technology access for people aging with and into incapacity.

Angela Jarvis-Holland has a B.S. in Nursing, a B.A. in Sociology from University of East London and a Master’s degree in Youth and community change and non-profit administration from Manchester Metropolitan College. Social Entrepreneurship and group organizing for wellness and empowerment have been a passion and career for a few years. Angela volunteered for the NWDSA for seven years before changing into the Government Director in 2008. She is guardian of an adult son with Down syndrome.
